Why the Howa M1500 Mini Action 7.62×39 is the Precision Bolt Action Build Platform for the World’s Most Popular Intermediate Cartridge

Mini Action — The Correct Action Size for 7.62×39
The Howa M1500 Mini Action receiver is purpose-designed for AR-15-length cartridges including the 7.62×39, providing a shorter and stiffer receiver than a standard short action that is correctly sized for the 7.62×39 case length. The reduced bolt travel improves cycling speed and the shorter, stiffer receiver contributes to consistent accuracy. Running 7.62×39 in a properly sized bolt action platform like the Howa Mini Action extracts the full accuracy potential of the cartridge that semi-automatic platforms often cannot match.

7.62×39 — Proven Terminal Performance and Wide Ammunition Availability
The 7.62x39mm is one of the most widely produced and available rifle cartridges in the world, offering excellent terminal performance on medium game and pest species at practical hunting distances, with ammunition available across a broad price range from steel-cased training loads to quality copper-jacketed hunting ammunition. In a bolt action platform, 7.62×39 is an outstanding cartridge for bush hunting, varminting, and pest control where its combination of manageable recoil, effective terminal energy, and low ammunition cost make it highly practical for high-volume use.

Cold-Hammer-Forged 20″ Blued Heavy Barrel — 1:9.45″ Twist Rate
The Howa M1500 Mini Action 7.62×39 20″ heavy barrel is cold-hammer-forged steel in a heavy varmint contour, finished in matte blue. The heavy profile improves barrel stiffness and heat management during extended shooting sessions. The 20″ length optimises muzzle velocity for the 7.62×39 cartridge while keeping the overall package compact for field use. The 1:9.45″ twist rate is the correct stabilisation rate for the standard 7.62×39 projectile weights of 123 to 125 grains.

Threaded Muzzle with Thread Cap — Suppressor and Muzzle Device Ready
The Howa M1500 Mini Action 7.62×39 barrel is threaded at the muzzle with a thread cap included, allowing direct fitment of suppressors, muzzle brakes, and compensators without gunsmithing. The 7.62×39 is a popular suppressor host calibre, producing a distinctive reduction in signature when suppressed and making it highly practical for pest control and hunting applications.

HACT Two-Stage Trigger — Precision-Focused Factory Trigger
The Howa M1500 Mini Action barrelled action includes the HACT (Howa Actuator Controlled Trigger) two-stage trigger system. Self-contained and attached to the receiver via a single Allen screw, the HACT delivers a clean, predictable two-stage pull with a defined take-up and crisp break, adjustable for pull weight to suit hunting or precision field use.

Three-Position Safety for Safe Field Handling
The Howa M1500 Mini Action features a three-position safety on the right side of the receiver: forward for fire, middle for bolt operation with trigger locked, and rear for full bolt and trigger lock during carry.

Drilled and Tapped Receiver — Compatible with Remington 700 Bases
The Howa M1500 Mini Action receiver is drilled and tapped for scope mounting and compatible with standard Remington 700 two-piece scope bases, providing access to the widest range of aftermarket optics mounting solutions for any bolt action platform.

Sub-MOA Accuracy Guarantee
Howa guarantees the M1500 Mini Action barrelled action to produce sub-MOA groups with appropriate factory ammunition, reflecting the tight dimensional tolerances and precise chambering applied at the Japanese factory.
