The Howa M1500 24″ carbon fibre wrapped heavy barrel combines a stainless steel barrel core with an outer carbon fibre wrap that dramatically reduces weight compared to a conventional steel heavy barrel of the same profile and length, while adding rigidity, improving barrel harmonics, and significantly accelerating heat dissipation between shots. Carbon fibre is approximately five times stronger and twice as rigid as steel by weight, meaning the wrapped barrel maintains its mechanical properties and point of impact more consistently during extended shooting sessions than a comparable all-steel varmint or heavy profile barrel.

Threaded 5/8×24 with Thread Cap — Suppressor and Muzzle Device Ready
The Howa M1500 CF wrapped barrel is threaded at the muzzle to the industry-standard 5/8×24 pitch used across .30 calibre rifles, with a thread protector cap included. The 5/8×24 thread pattern is directly compatible with the full range of .30 calibre suppressors, muzzle brakes, and compensators available on the South African market and internationally. No gunsmithing is required to fit a muzzle device.

HACT Two-Stage Trigger — Factory-Set, Self-Contained, Crisp
The Howa M1500 barrelled action is equipped with Howa’s HACT (Howa Actuator Controlled Trigger) two-stage trigger system, self-contained in a single unit attached to the receiver via one Allen screw. The HACT provides a clean, consistent two-stage pull preferred by precision shooters who want a defined take-up before the break, without the creep and overtravel of a standard single-stage factory trigger. The trigger is adjustable for pull weight.

Three-Position Safety for Safe Carry and Bolt Operation
The Howa M1500 features a three-position safety lever on the right side of the receiver. In the forward position the rifle is ready to fire. In the middle position the trigger is locked but the bolt can be cycled for safe loading and unloading. In the rear position both the trigger and bolt are locked for safe carry in the field or in a vehicle.

Machined Receiver with Forged Bolt and M16-Style Extractor
The Howa M1500 short action receiver is machined from steel with a controlled round feed bolt featuring two locking lugs, a 90-degree bolt throw, integral bolt handle, pressure vent holes, and a reliable M16-style extractor/ejector for positive extraction under all conditions. The bolt face is trued to the chamber axis and headspace is set to exacting tolerances at the factory.

Sub-MOA Accuracy Guarantee
Howa guarantees the M1500 barrelled action to produce sub-MOA groups (under 1 inch at 100 metres) with appropriate factory ammunition. The combination of the cold-hammer-forged stainless core, carbon fibre wrap for superior barrel harmonics, and precisely chambered and headspaced action delivers consistent precision across a wide range of .308 Winchester loads.

24″ Barrel for Maximum Velocity in .308 Winchester
The 24″ barrel length extracts maximum muzzle velocity from the .308 Winchester cartridge compared to shorter 20″ or 22″ configurations, with estimated gains of 30 to 50 fps per 2″ of additional barrel length. For long-range work and hunting at extended distances, the additional velocity flattens trajectory and extends the effective range of the .308 Winchester.
